The Stuart Sherman Papers (*presale, includes 3 greetings cards*)

In the summer of 2018, I spent a month and a half in NYU’s Fales Library, looking for scripts and other material concerning the late performance artist Stuart Sherman's performances. Instead of scripts, I found reams and reams of poems and short stories. The Stuart Sherman Papers is the first publication to focus on the prose, poetry and other writing Stuart made in his lifetime.

Designed by Loes Verstappen, the book features well over 200 facsimile pages of Stuart’s text work, as well as written contributions by Sally Banes, dance historian, writer, and critic (1950–2020); Mark Bradford, from the Estate of Stuart Sherman; Nicholas Martin, Curator for the Arts and Humanities at Fales NYU Library; and myself, Michiel Huijben. It also includes photographs by Paolo Rapalino and Nathaniel Tileston (1942–2019).
